The entry-level Maxi scooter space just got interesting with the introduction of the Hero Xoom 160. It locks horns with the Yamaha Aerox 155.
Scooters in India are usually the perfect choice for everyday practical commutes. Agreed, the Maxi scooter space in India is not that flourishing, but it has found a niche section of buyers who want the practicality of a scooter but the performance of a motorcycle. Hence, the Yamaha Aerox 155 was a welcome addition to the Indian scooter market.
Hero MotoCorp has now introduced its own version of a Maxi scooter called Xoom 160. It goes head to head with the Aerox 155. Let us look at how these two entry-level Maxi-style scooters fare against each other.

While most of the dimensions in both these scooters are similar. There are some notable differences. For instance, the Xoom 160 is significantly heavier than the Aerox 155. The former is longer, wider, and taller than the latter. The ground clearance on Xoom 160 is 10mm more than the Aerox 155. However, the Xoom 160 gets a marginally accessible added at 787mm and a larger fuel tank capacity of 7 litres.

When it comes to features, the Xoom 160 comes with dual-pod LED headlights with integrated LED position lamps and first-in-segment sequential LED winkers. Other convenience features include a fully-digital instrument cluster which packs Bluetooth connectivity, call and text alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation, an illuminated start button and front glove box with phone charger, and engine start/stop system.
On the other hand, the Aerox 155 gets an LED headlamp with integrated LED position lamps, a fully-digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, call and text alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, and automatic start/stop system. The Aerox 155 is the only scooter in this segment to come with traction control.
