10 Cheapest Touring Bikes With Over 100 HP
One look through all the motorcycles in the touring segment, and you might think it only really caters to the rich. With a fantastic selection of high-dollar, feature-rich motorcycles, manufacturers and dealers alike are intent on pushing customers toward these more profitable machines. If you look a little closer, behind the “full-dresser” veil so to speak, there are some great value-oriented alternatives that still pack a pretty decent punch. You will need to embrace the idea of sports touring, though, and in most cases, luggage is sold separately. All these touring motorcycles cost less than $17,000 and still make over 100 horsepower. Some of them, we would argue, offer more overall value for money than just about anything else on the market.
In order to give you the most up-to-date and accurate information possible, the data used to compile this article was sourced from various manufacturer websites, including Suzuki and BMW, as well as other authoritative sources. The motorcycles on this list are rated according to MSRP.

Aprilia Tuono V4 1100
MSRP: $16,199
This is by some margin the cheapest V4 motorcycle currently on the market. Yet, it still offers class-leading electronics, good wind protection, and Italian styling. While the Factory version leans more into the sporty side, the base model leans into the sports touring side, and, in most respects, we believe it to be the better option. Few motorcycles offer a balance between performance and everyday practicality like this.

BMW R 1250 RS
MSRP: $15,995
If you like the idea of owning a boxer-twin but have no desire to get into the adventure bike scene, this is a fantastic touring option. With immense, tractable power, the R 1250 RS offers the usual BMW refinement wrapped up in an altogether more budget-friendly package. Just be careful of ticking too many options boxes, as you will see the value dissolve into an overpriced mess right before your eyes.

Ducati Multistrada V2
MSRP: $15,995
The new Ducati V2 engine brings genuine value to the Italian marque. While it is pretty easy to make an argument for the aforementioned Aprilia for just $200 more, this is a different riding experience. Although the V2 fills the middleweight category for Ducati, it still packs full-sized power and is genuinely comfortable for two riders. The new design and features of the Multistrada V2 simply sweeten the pot further.

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello
MSRP: $15,490
If you are in the market for something “different,” few manufacturers do “different” better than Moto Guzzi. In the V100 Mandello, we have arguably one of the most beautiful motorcycles in the world. Design is always subjective, but what isn’t subjective is the fact that this is the only transverse shaft drive V-twin on the market. It also offers adaptive aerodynamics, which is mostly just a gimmick, but it is certainly a fun gimmick.

KTM 890 SMT
MSRP: $13,949
Still (strangely) traversing through Europe, we come to KTM 890 SMT. In truth, it does a fine job in terms of sports touring potential, but with the way things are currently going at KTM, it is hard not to add a caveat here. The cam issues remain unresolved, and the company is staring down the barrel of bankruptcy. So either wait and see what transpires there. Or look at one of the other options listed here. If you can look past these things, though, the SMT is an epic motorcycle that’s super fun to hoon around on. Read our review to know why that is.

Kawasaki Ninja 1100 SX
MSRP: $13,699
Kawasaki just updated what is essentially one of, if not the best value for money motorcycles on the market, adding even more value without increasing the price. With all the comfort and power you will ever need, this feature-rich Ninja will quite literally take you anywhere. As long as you have paved roads there, of course. Just strap on some luggage (or tick an option) and go. If your touring involves off-roading, we’d recommend looking at the Versys 1100 instead (although that’s quite pricey).

Suzuki GSX-S1000GT
MSRP: $13,449
Not much separates this and the aforementioned Kawasaki. In fact, we think it is so tight it might actually just come down to which color you prefer. The Kawasaki offers more tech, but Suzuki responds with more power. So much so that you have more power than any affordable touring bike here. Only the Aprilia offers more bang for the buck in that regard.

Yamaha Tracer 9
MSRP: $12,599
While the Tracer 9 GT+ certainly offers a lot of great tech features, we are glad to see Yamaha also has the more value-oriented Tracer 9. At this price point, we get the proven CP3 engine in a better-looking touring package. Luggage comes with this as standard fitment, and so does a pretty comprehensive electronics package, all for a solid $4,000 less than the GT+.

Triumph Tiger Sport 800
MSRP: $12,495
Triumph are currently offering the new 800 at an incredibly attractive price. While this is a new model, in its first year of production (the same could be said for the Ducati), Triumph has proven to be one of the most reliable European manufacturers. On paper, this has a lot of potential, offering everything you might want – including cruise control – from a budget tourer. That triple-howl is just a bonus then.

BMW F 900 XR
MSRP: $12,370
With the sales success that has been the S 1000 XR, it makes a lot of sense that BMW introduced an XR running on the underrated 900 platform. Those familiar with the F 900 R might be wondering why we would include a 99 horsepower bike on this list, but BMW has given it a performance bump. It makes a solid 105 horses now while boasting new features and subtle refinements as part of its latest update.
