Surron Hyper Bee Electric Motorcycle First Look
Cycle News Staff | August 29, 2024
Surron unveiled their new Hyper Bee electric motorcycle at the 2024 Red Bull Tennessee Knockout Hard Enduro (TKO) event on Friday, August 23rd. The TKO was an ideal launch venue, as it includes the ECR eMoto electric motorcycle class as an AMA Grand Championship, where Surron is the most popular brand among racers. This was the first public viewing of the new motorcycle.
The Hyper Bee targets youth riders, teenagers, and adults interested in pit bikes. While detailed specifications were limited at launch, key features include:
- 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels (matching popular kids’ bikes like the Kawasaki KLX110 and Honda CRF110F)
- Mid-drive electric motor
- Aluminum frame and swingarm
- Upside-down forks
- Front and rear disc brakes
- Quick-release, easily changeable battery
The suggested retail price is yet to be announced. However, based on other Surron models, expectations are high for great performance and lighter weight compared to similar gas-powered bikes in this category.
The Surron Hyper Bee is scheduled for release in the US through Surron’s dealer network in December 2024, potentially making it an exciting Christmas gift for enthusiasts of all ages.
Surron’s electric motorcycle lineup now includes:
- Hyper Bee (new youth / pit bike category)
- Light Bee (which popularized the electric motorcycle category)
- Light Bee S (a smaller version of the Light Bee with smaller wheels and lower seat height)
- Ultra Bee (mid-sized bike)
- Storm Bee (full-sized bike)
