The car feature I never knew I needed, and now can’t live without

I’m the first to admit that I don’t know a whole lot about cars. I’m not up to speed with the latest makes and models or the cool tech advancements that make driving these days so much safer and way more comfortable.

It stands to reason, therefore, that there are certain car features that I never really considered the existence of – or just how much better they could make my life. However, that has all changed since I started driving a vehicle that makes every trip something I actively look forward to…even if it’s to work (kidding, kidding! I love my job!).

After thinking that getting an EV (electric vehicle) would be a really good thing to do for both the planet and my wallet, I started driving the MG4 XPOWER and of all of its very cool features (and it boasts quite a few) there is one that I have become so attached to I truly don’t know how I ever lived without it.

I am talking about heated seats and a heated steering wheel. These little conveniences have been making early morning journeys into my office so warm and toasty that it’s really hard to get out of the car at my destination – and not just because I am dreading that 9 am meeting.

This feature is available in both of the front seats and, truly, my backside just feels sad now when I drive our other (far less eco-friendly) car.

The heated seats and steering wheel feature are available via the XPOWER’s easy-to-use touchscreen, where you’ll also find a range of other functions – such as lane keep assist which helps you to “stay in between the lines” (although I will say, this feature is a little jerky) and other safety features like rear and forward collision sensors which you can customise to your liking.

Speaking of safety, it’s worth noting that the MG4 has a five-star ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) safety rating so even the most nervous drivers can feel confident taking this car for a spin.

I’ve only been driving the MG4 XPOWER for a couple of weeks so I’m still getting used to all of its fun bells and whistles, but here are a few of the other features I am absolutely loving so far:

  • Wireless phone-charging, conveniently located under the made touchscreen – it’s such a nice touch to the car and makes the front look so much cleaner without wires exploding everywhere.

  • Different drive modes – the XPOWER lets you choose between ECO, SPORT, SNOW and CUSTOM so you can always enjoy the exact drive you want. I’ve been mostly using ECO as it’s the most practical for my lifestyle, but my partner is a big fan of the sports mode.

  • Sleek design – it’s my personal opinion, but I really like how the XPOWER looks! It’s not a cheap car, by any means (although at around $69k its more affordable than many of its counterparts) but I think it looks luxurious – especially in the black which is what I am currently driving.

  • Really easy to drive – driving the XPOWER is just a really enjoyable experience and I find the car very easy to manoeuvre.

All in all, I’m really looking forward to spending more time getting to know the features and benefits of the MG4 XPOWER but so far, based on the heated seats and steering wheel alone, I’m sold.
